The Delicate Balance of Seeing the Road Less Traveled

If you want better answers, ask better questions. It is fascinating that, we will ask a question like “why can’t I accomplish: dot dot dot (you fill in the:)

Underneath that question, really, we are asking “Why do I fail?” Our mind has no challenge coming up with the answers to that question. And as we self talk about it, we begin to believe our negative self talk. “I am not good enough, I am not capable of, I am not talented enough” etc: We judge ourselves and sometimes with the help of those closest to us.

And as we self talk about it, we begin eventually to believe our negative self talk. We feel guilty. We feel bad. If we continue feeling guilty long enough, it can turn into shame.

Shame suffocates hope. Shame is where we transform from, doubting to believing, we are what we tell ourselves. The transformation from, “I feel bad about myself”, to “I am a bad person.” That is a very dark and deep place we do not want to reside. Let us shine some light on the truth.

A better question could be - How is it that, “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” Romans 7:15

That is an empowering question. This question begins a quest, to search for the cause of what is not working. And our mind will persist to find the answer. Then seeing and feeling the cause, sets up the next powerful question to find solutions.

Our mind is that powerful either way. It all hinges on the framing of the question. Our mind persists to find the answer, to the question, we ask ourselves. Ask a better question. ( :
